LUBANGO, Angola, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Angolan chess player, Sergio Miguel on Wednesday won the Angolan absolute chess championship in Lubango city, Angolan southern Huila province.
The player won the competition by adding 7.5 points at the end of 9 rounds played in the Swiss system.
Sergio Miguel had 6 wins and 3 draws.
Addressing the press, the new national champion stated that the secret of victory was to learn from past mistakes.
"The secret was patience and applying the lessons I learned from past defeats," Sergio said.
In the women's game, the big winner was the bona fide master Ednasia Junior, who made the full 9 points in 9 games.
