SARAJEVO, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- The 27th Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF) opened here on Friday with the world premiere of the latest movie by Oscar-winning Bosnian film director Danis Tanovic.

The comedy, dubbed "Not So Friendly Neighborhood Affair", explores the fragility of human relations through a story of two owners of neighboring kebab restaurants in Sarajevo's famous Old Town.

As the neighborhood is trying to recover after a difficult pandemic year, a tourist arrives looking for the best kebab in town. One harmless gesture then triggered a turmoil in the neighborhood.

Also, this year's Festival will pay tribute to film director Wim Wenders, and honor his outstanding contribution to the art of film. Wenders will be presented with the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award. A retrospective of his selected works will be presented in the Festival's "Tribute to" program.

A total of 48 films are competing for this year's Heart of Sarajevo awards, in a Festival that has grown into a major cultural event in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and South-East Europe. Its four competition sections - for feature, documentary, short and student film - will present 18 world premieres.

During the last-year's lockdown, the Festival went online. This year's live edition will, however, continue to offer online movies to the global audience.

All Festival guests will have to be registered either as immunized, fully recovered from COVID-19, or tested negative in order to make this year's SFF a COVID-safe event. Enditem
