AMMAN, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Commissioner-General of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini on Thursday discussed continuing preparations with Sweden to hold an international meeting over supporting UNRWA.

They highlighted the importance of the conference in mobilizing political and financial support to enable the UN agency to continuously offer its vital services for more than 5 million Palestinian refugees in the health, relief and educational fields, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The two sides added that the conference is also important for providing services to more than 560,000 Palestinian students at UNRWA-run schools in its five areas of operations under the UN mandate.

Lazzarini commended Jordan's constant efforts in supporting the agency. Enditem
