German shares almost unchanged at the start of trading on Friday

BERLIN, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- German shares were almost unchanged at the start of trading on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index losing 14.72 points, or 0.09 percent, opening at 15,778.9 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies was industrial gas producer Linde, increasing by 0.60 percent, followed by plastic specialist Covestro with 0.47 percent and housing company Vonovia at 0.38 percent.

Shares of Delivery Hero fell by 1.05 percent. The German online food delivery company was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Friday.

Import prices in Germany in July grew by 2.2 percent on the previous month and were even up 15.0 percent year-on-year, the highest year-on-year change in almost forty years, Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced on Friday. Export prices in July increased by 6.3 percent year on year.

Turnover in Germany's non-financial business economy in July grew by 0.8 percent on the previous month and was up 12.7 percent compared to February 2020, the month before restrictions were imposed because of the coronavirus pandemic, Destatis said.

The yield on German ten-year bonds grew 0.0005 percentage points to minus 0.4155 percent and the euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.1757 U.S. dollars, increasing by 0.01 percent on Friday morning. Enditem
