Live COVID-19 updates: Britain records another 32,181 coronavirus cases

BEIJING, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

TUNIS -- Tunisian Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that the death toll from the virus rose by seven to 23,451.

The ministry reported 1,282 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total tally in the North African country to 664,034, while the total number of recoveries reached 614,150.

RABAT -- Morocco reported on Tuesday 4,899 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total infections in the country to 860,948.

The death toll rose to 12,649 with 109 new fatalities during the last 24 hours, while 2,397 people are in intensive care units, according to a statement by the Ministry of Health.

The total number of recoveries from COVID-19 in Morocco increased by 5,813 to 793,607, the statement said.

LONDON -- Another 32,181 people in Britain have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 6,789,581, according to official figures released Tuesday.

The country also reported another 50 coronavirus-related deaths. The total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Britain now stands at 132,535. These figures only include the deaths of people who died within 28 days of their first positive test.

ADDIS ABABA -- The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Africa reached 7,767,332 as of Tuesday afternoon, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said.

The Africa CDC, the specialized healthcare agency of the African Union, said the death toll from the pandemic across the continent stands at 195,544. Enditem
