BERLIN, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- German shares were almost unchanged at the start of trading on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index losing 10.69 points, or 0.07 percent, opening at 15,813.6 points.
The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies was plastic specialist Covestro, increasing by 2.57 percent, followed by pharmaceutical company Merck with 1.48 percent and technology giant Siemens with 1.01 percent.
On Thursday, British investment bank Barclays raised its price target for Covestro from 70 to 71 euros and left the rating at "overweight." Shares of the German plastic specialist were trading at around 60 euros at the start of trading on Thursday.
Shares of SAP fell by 1.39 percent. The German software company was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Thursday.
Turnover in Germany's wholesale sector in the second quarter 2021 grew by 15.9 percent year-on-year, the country's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced on Thursday. The turnover in June grew by 16.1 percent on the same month a year earlier.
The yield on German ten-year bonds declined 0.0145 percentage points to minus 0.3855 percent and the euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.1842 U.S. dollars, decreasing by 0.01 percent on Thursday morning. Enditem
