German shares edge up Thursday

FRANKFURT, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- German stocks edged up on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index up 16.30 points, or 0.10 percent, to close at 15,840.59 points.

Material manufacturer Covestro won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 3.30 percent. Manufacturing and electronics company Siemens and semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies rose by 1.78 percent and 1.60 percent respectively.

Housing association Vonovia lost the most among the blue chips, falling 1.81 percent. Multinational software corporation SAP and reinsurance company Munich Re went down by 1.41 percent and 1.23 percent respectively.

German insurance and financial services company Allianz was the most-traded share with a turnover of 157.23 million euros (186.25 million U.S. dollars).

China's Haier, a leading global household appliances manufacturer listed in Frankfurt in 2018, lost 0.66 percent to close at 1.825 euros per share on Thursday. Enditem
