JERUSALEM -- Israeli President Isaac Herzog announced on Saturday that he had held a meeting with Jordanian King Abdullah II last week at the king's palace.

According to a statement released by Herzog's spokesman, the Israeli president was invited by the Jordanian king and they discussed "deep strategic issues at both bilateral and regional levels" during the "warm" meeting, as well as exchanged views on issues ranging from agricultural cooperation to the climate crisis. DAMASCUS -- Syria on Saturday agreed to help Lebanon get Egypt's gas and Jordan's electricity through Syrian territories, according to the country's state news agency SANA.

The agreement was announced by head of the Lebanese-Syrian Higher Council Nasri Khoury, who told journalists in a statement that Syria agreed to Lebanon's request to help transmit gas from Egypt and electricity from Jordan through Syrian territories. (Syria-Egypt-Lebanon)

TEHRAN -- Iran on Saturday registered 515 new deaths of COVID-19, raising the death toll in the country to 110,064, said the update by its Ministry of Health and Medical Education.

The ministry also reported 20,404 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the country's total infections to 5,103,537. (Iran-COVID19-Cases)

ANKARA -- Turkey on Saturday confirmed 20,033 new COVID-19 cases, raising its tally of infections to 6,478,663, according to its Health Ministry.
