CARACAS -- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro reported on Sunday that the government delegation participating in talks with the opposition in Mexico had brought forward a document calling for the end of all U.S. sanctions against the country.

Maduro said in an interview with Venezuelan state television that the document proposes "the immediate lifting of all commercial, financial, oil, and economic sanctions against Venezuela and the immediate return of all bank accounts, assets, and Venezuelan gold." (Venezuela-U.S.-Sanctions)

UNITED NATIONS -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has sent Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths to Kabul for talks with the Taliban leadership, said Guterres' spokesman on Sunday.

"At the request of the secretary-general, Martin Griffiths ... is currently in Kabul. During his visit today (Sunday), Mr. Griffiths met with Mullah Baradar and the leadership of the Taliban in Kabul to engage with the authorities on humanitarian issues," said Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman, in a statement. WASHINGTON -- Four people, including an infant, were killed on Sunday in Lakeland, southeastern U.S. state Florida, according to local media reports.

An 11-year-old girl was injured after being shot "multiple times" in the incident, said the reports.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said the shootings took place at 4:30 a.m. in two separate houses, adding that the suspect surrendered after being wounded in a shootout with police. (U.S.-Shooting-Florida)

CONAKRY -- Guinea's defense ministry said on Sunday in an official press release that "the Presidential Guard, supported by the defense and security forces, contained the threat and pushed back the group of insurgents."

According to the statement, it was in the early hours of the day that Conakry, the capital, has witnessed heavy gunfire perpetrated by elements of the Special Forces Group.
