Tunisia reports 1,144 new COVID-19 cases, 675,191 in total

TUNIS, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Ministry of Health reported on Monday 1,144 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of cases in the North African country to 675,191.

The death toll from the virus rose by eight to 23,846 in Tunisia, while the total number of recoveries reached 639,708, the ministry said in a statement.

The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Tunisia reached 2,535, including 483 in intensive care units and 106 mechanically ventilated, it added.

A total of 2,660,115 lab tests have been carried out in Tunisia so far, according to the ministry.

Since the start of the national vaccination campaign on March 13, a total of 2,512,895 Tunisians have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The total number of people registered on the electronic vaccination platform amounted to 5,940,360. Enditem
