Deal reached on disbursing Qatari grant for Gaza: envoy

GAZA, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- A deal was reached on disbursing the Qatari cash grant, reopening the crossing points with the Gaza Strip, and providing facilities to improve living condition for populations in the area, a Qatari diplomat said Monday.

Qatari Ambassador to Palestine Mohammed al-Emadi, who is currently in Gaza, said in a press statement that an agreement was reached with Israel on reopening the crossing points to meet the basic needs of Gaza's populations.

Al-Emadi said that in the last two days, he conducted a series of meetings with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip and Israel on achieving calm and stability in Gaza.

He added that positive results would be constructed in all issues related to improving the living conditions in the Gaza Strip in full coordination with the United Nations, the Palestinian Authority, Israel and Hamas.

He added that all procedures for the disbursement of the Qatari cash grant to the needy families in the Gaza Strip had been completed in an agreement with the Palestinian Authority and the UN.

The Qatari diplomat also said that the Gaza employees grant will be disbursed in coordination with the Palestinian Authority within the coming days and in line with all parties.

Al-Emadi urged all parties to bear responsibilities to maintain calm and stability with a view to improving the situations of people who are living in difficulties.

Meanwhile, Palestinian factions, including Hamas movement, said in a joint statement that they gave the mediators a time ultimatum until Sept. 15 to implement the agreement. Enditem
