KHARTOUM -- Sudan's foreign ministry on Wednesday said it had summoned the Ethiopian Ambassador to Khartoum as the Sudanese authorities found 29 bodies in a border river.

"On Aug. 30, the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Ambassador of Ethiopia in Khartoum after the Sudanese authorities, during July 26 and Aug. 8, 2021, found 29 bodies carried by Setait River, east of the villages adjacent to Wad El Helew locality in Kassala State," the ministry said in a statement. JERUSALEM -- Tension mounted in Israeli prisons on Wednesday as Palestinian inmates set fire to cells while Israeli forces continue the searches for six Palestinian escapees who tunneled their way out on Monday.

Fires broke out in several jails to protest attempts to relocate prisoners to other facilities, Palestinian and Israeli sources said. The relocations were part of measures taken by the Israeli Prison Service following the rare escape. (Israel-Palestine-Prisoner)

KUWAIT CITY -- Visiting U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin reaffirmed here on Wednesday the United States's supportive position for security and stability of Kuwait.

During a meeting with Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Austin conveyed appreciation by U.S. President Joe Biden, expressing his country's gratitude for Kuwait's cooperation in Washington's evacuation process in Afghanistan while facilitating the transit of evacuees through its airport, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) said. JERUSALEM -- Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid departed on Wednesday to Moscow to meet his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
