Sri Lankan prime minister leaves for Italy to attend G20 Interfaith Forum

COLOMBO, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday left for Italy to attend the G20 Interfaith Forum which will begin on Sept. 12, his office said.

A statement from the foreign ministry said the prime minister was accompanied by Foreign Minister G.L. Peiris and Foreign Secretary Admiral Jayanath Colombage.

Rajapaksa is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the opening session of the forum which will be held at the University of Bologna.

An official from the Prime Minister's office told Xinhua that Rajapaksa will hold bilateral discussions with the Italian leaders and other world leaders on the sidelines of the forum.

Rajapaksa will return to Sri Lanka on Sept. 16. Enditem
