ABUJA -- Dozens of students and a teacher kidnapped about two weeks ago by unidentified gunmen from a local secondary school in Nigeria's northwestern state of Zamfara have regained their freedom, a police source said Monday.

The students of the Government Secondary School in Kaya, a village in the Maradun local government area of Zamfara, regained their freedom from the gunmen Sunday and are already reuniting with their families, said the police source, who spoke under condition of anonymity. JERUSALEM -- Two Israelis were injured in a stabbing attack by a knife-wielding Palestinian teenager outside Jerusalem's central bus station on Monday, the Israeli police said.

The assailant, identified as a 17-year-old from the area of Hebron city in the Israel-occupied West Bank, arrived at the entrance of the central bus station in Jaffa St. and stabbed two shoppers, the Jerusalem District Commander Doron Turgeman told reporters at the scene. (Israel-Palestine-Attack)

ABUJA -- At least 240 inmates have escaped after unidentified gunmen attacked a custodial center in central Nigeria's Kogi state, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) said on Monday.

NCoS spokesperson Francis Enobore said the attackers broke into the custodial center, in Kabba, a town of the Kogi state, Sunday night, after a fierce gun battle with the guards, and forcefully released about 240 inmates. (Nigeria-Prison-Attack)

BAMAKO -- Five soldiers and three terrorists were killed in an attack on a military patrol in central Mali, the Malian Armed Forces said in a statement on their website.

The army's Operation Maliko patrol team "reacted energetically" to the ambush set up by an armed terrorist group on Sunday around 11:45 am, the statement said, adding that five vehicles belonging to the army were also burned during the attack. (Mali-Attack-Soldier) Enditem
