SEOUL, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's export for the information and communication technology (ICT) products kept growing for 15 straight months last month, a government report showed Tuesday.
The ICT products export jumped 33.2 percent from a year earlier to 20.27 billion U.S. dollars in August, after surging 30.2 percent in the previous month, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The August shipment marked the second-highest figure in the country's modern history, continuing to increase for 15 months since June 2020.
The ICT import advanced 23.7 percent over the year to 11.38 billion dollars in August, sending the trade surplus in the ICT sector to 8.89 billion dollars.
The ICT export to China, South Korea's biggest trading partner, soared 36.3 percent to 9.67 billion dollars last month.
Shipment to Vietnam expanded 18.2 percent to 3.26 billion dollars, and those to the United States and the European Union (EU) grew to 2.46 billion dollars and 1.0 billion dollars respectively.
Semiconductor export spiked 42.2 percent over the year to 11.79 billion dollars in August, and shipment for display panels went up 22.4 percent to 2.21 billion dollars.
Mobile phone shipment jumped 67.7 percent to 1.18 billion dollars, and export for computer and peripherals gained 26.7 percent last month. Enditem
