WASHINGTON -- Americans for Free Trade, a coalition of more than 150 industry associations that are united in the fight against tariffs, on Tuesday urged the Biden administration to end the "misguided trade war" initiated by the previous administration as tariffs continue to hurt American businesses across the country.
Many American businesses are still "struggling to bear the costs of tariffs" on more than 350 billion U.S. dollars in Chinese goods imposed by the previous administration, Americans for Free Trade spokesperson Jonathan Gold said in a statement. (U.S.-Tariffs-China)

UNITED NATIONS -- President of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Volkan Bozkir, on Tuesday called for redoubling efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while expressing the concern that the 2030 deadline might be missed.
Noting that the SDGs represent a blueprint for peace and prosperity, for people and the planet, now and into the future and implementing these goals will help to protect the international community against future catastrophes, he warned that "with the trajectory we are on, we are going to miss the 2030 deadline." GENEVA -- A Chinese diplomat said here on Tuesday that the U.S.-led military intervention in Afghanistan is the root cause of the humanitarian disaster in the Asian country.

BAGHDAD -- Two Iraqi army officers and a civilian were killed Tuesday in attacks by militants of the Islamic State (IS) group in the provinces of Diyala and Salahudin, security sources said.
In the eastern province of Diyala, Lieutenant Colonel Jassim al-Shimmary, commander of an army battalion, was killed when a roadside bomb planted by IS militants detonated near his military vehicle outside the town of Jalawlaa, Major Alaa al-Saadi from the provincial police told Xinhua.
