JAKARTA, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's export was recorded at 21.42 billion U.S. dollars in August, up 64.1 percent increase year on year, the country's Central Agency of Statistics said Wednesday.

At a virtual press conference, the agency's head Margo Yuwono said last month's export value surpassed the country's last record high of 18.65 billion dollars in August in 2011.

During the month, the non-oil and non-gas sector saw a 21.75-percent growth, while the oil and gas sector logged an increase of 7.48 percent.

The value of non-oil and non-gas exports, which contributed around 90 percent of the total exports in August, reached 20.36 billion dollars, an increase of 63.43 percent year on year.

China, which is Indonesia's biggest trading partner, along with the United States and India were the top three non-oil and non-gas export destinations, he said.

Cumulatively, Indonesia's export value between January and August reached 142.01 billion dollars, an increase of 37.77 percent year on year. Enditem
