Putin, Kazakh president discuss Afghanistan

MOSCOW, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed the situation in Afghanistan in a telephone conversation on Wednesday.

"In view of the upcoming Collective Security Treaty Organisation and (the) Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) events in Dushanbe, there was a detailed discussion of the developments in Afghanistan," the Kremlin said in a statement.

The conversation also covered bilateral issues including COVID-19 cooperation, it added.

The upcoming 21st meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State will be held in a hybrid format in Dushanbe and will be chaired by Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. Enditem
