Malaysia reports 18,815 new COVID-19 cases, 346 new deaths

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported 18,815 more COVID-19 infections as of midnight Thursday, bringing the national total to 2,049,750.

Seven of the new cases are imported and 18,808 are local transmissions, data released on the ministry's website showed.

Another 346 deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 22,355.

The total number of cured and discharged rose to 1,800,275.

Of the remaining 227,120 active cases, 1,234 are being held in intensive care and 710 of those are in need of assisted breathing.

The country reported 202,298 doses administered on Thursday alone and some 66.7 percent of the population have received at least one dose and 55 percent are fully vaccinated. Enditem
