Angola signs 150-mln-USD credit agreement with World Bank for COVID-19 vaccines

LUANDA, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Angolan government and the World Bank (WB) on Thursday signed a financing agreement valued at 150 million U.S. dollars for the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines.

On the occasion here, the WB country representative, Jean-Christophe Carret, highlighted that the WB and Angola had been working to effectively make the funding project happen.

"As director of the WB in Angola, I will do everything in my power to help the local government to achieve its goals," Carret said.

For her part, Angolan Finance Minister Vera Daves highlighted the partnership between the Angolan government and the WB, which led to great achievements in strategic domains for the country's socio-economic development.

The official also took the opportunity to call on civil societies and all citizens in general to adhere to the vaccination campaign against COVID-19. Enditem
