LONDON, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.91 percent, or 63.84 points, to close at 6,963.64 points.

International Consolidated Airlines Group, an Anglo-Spanish multinational airline holding company, soared 4.94 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Intercontinental Hotels Group and HSBC Holdings increased by 1.97 percent and 1.94 percent, respectively.

Anglo American, a globally diversified mining business, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 8.07 percent. BHP Group, a global resources company, dropped 4.80 percent. Weir Group, a Scottish multinational engineering company, fell 4.59 percent. Enditem
