Tunisian COVID-19 caseload tops 700,000

TUNIS, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Ministry of Health reported on Monday 472 new COVID-19 cases, raising the number of cases in the North African country to 700,400.

The death toll from the pandemic rose by 17 to 24,527, while the number of recoveries reached 669,928, the ministry said in a statement.

The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in the country came to 1,980, including 380 in intensive care units and 87 mechanically ventilated, it added.

A total of 2,861,359 lab tests have been carried out in Tunisia so far, according to the ministry.

Since the country launched its vaccination campaign on March 13, a total of 3,209,273 Tunisians have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The number of people registered on the electronic vaccination platform amounted to 6,150,667. Enditem
