JAKARTA, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Police in the Indonesian capital have named three wardens guilty of negligence in a fire that killed 49 inmates of the overcrowded Tangerang prison on the outskirt of Jakarta.

Investigators have asked witnesses and collected evidence related to the accident, the city police's spokesman Yusri Yunus told reporters on Monday, adding that three wardens on duty at that time were allegedly found guilty of negligence.

In the early hours of Sept. 8, a fire broke out from a block of the Tangerang prison. The police's initial investigation said that the cause appeared to be an electrical short circuit.
