World Football Summit returns in Madrid

MADRID, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Atletico Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano stadium is the venue for the fifth edition of the World Football Summit forum on September 22 and 23, as the face-to-face format of one of the most important events of the global football industry returns after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Clubs, companies and international organizations are all attending an event that mixes face-to-face assistance with online conferences involving executives from the governing bodies of world and European football.

FIFA, UEFA and Fifpro all have a presence along with representatives of Spain's La Liga, the German Bundesliga and clubs such as FC Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, Real Betis and Granada.

Events on the first day include the intervention of Atletico Madrid's Miguel Angel Gil, the presence at a round table of former Spain international Fernando Hierro, a session on Barcelona's social media strategy, and a closing round table for the day with football legends such as Samuel Eto'o and Predrag Mijatovic.

The second day will be opened by the former Afghan football player Khalida Popal and there will be interventions by people such as FIFA legal director Emilio Garcia Silvero, chief executive of the English players' association PFA Maheta Molango, director of women's football of the Fifpro union Sarah Gregorius and La Liga president Javier Tebas.
