TEHRAN, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Iranian armed forces held parades on Wednesday at the beginning of the Defense Week, which marks the 41st anniversary of the eight-year war between Iran and Iraq, official news agency IRNA reported.
In the capital Tehran and other cities across the country, the motorcycle, vehicle, and naval units of the armed forces held parades under the slogan "we are powerful."
Over the past years, the Defense Week witnessed large-scale parades and new military achievements being unveiled, notably ballistic missile products.
On Wednesday, Major General Hossein Salami, Chief Commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), said that the Islamic revolution, which has become more powerful compared to the earlier days, is "moving forward with vigor."
The Iran-Iraq war, which broke out in September 1980 and lasted through August 1988, incurred a tremendous loss of lives and economic damage to both countries. Enditem
