NEW DELHI, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- At least five people were killed Thursday after a car they were travelling in rammed into a stationary goods truck in the western Indian state of Gujarat, police said.
The accident took place at Timbdi village of Morbi district, about 242 km west of Gandhinagar, the capital city of Gujarat.
"Today morning a car rammed into a stationary truck from behind at Timbdi village, killing five people it was carrying," a police official posted in Morbi district said. "Local residents informed the police, who later on pulled out the bodies from the mangled car."
Police said preliminary investigations revealed the car was being rashly driven.
"It seems the driver of the car apparently lost control over the wheels, following which the accident took place," the official said.
The bodies have been removed to the hospital for post-mortem and other legal formalities.
Police have registered a case and ordered an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
