LONDON, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.07 percent, or 5.02 points, to close at 7,078.35 points.

Rolls-Royce Holdings, a British-based engineering company, soared 3.90 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Lloyds Banking Group and Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust increased by 2.46 percent and 1.79 percent, respectively.

Entain, a British sports betting and gambling company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 4.84 percent. Polymetal International, a precious metals mining company, dropped 3.27 percent. Hargreaves Lansdown, a financial service company, fell 2.43 percent. Enditem
