BEIRUT, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) will support Lebanon's new cabinet by providing it with technical and economic expertise through its negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and donor countries, ESCWA's Executive Secretary Rola Dashti said on Wednesday.
According to the National News Agency, Dashti's remarks came during her meeting with Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati to discuss the new cabinet's priorities and challenges facing Lebanon.
Dashti said the ESCWA supports Lebanon's planned reforms in public finances and social areas.
"It is important for Lebanon to benefit from loans to invest in infrastructure and in projects that offer job opportunities for the youths in addition to developing the economy in different fields," she said.
Lebanon formed a new cabinet in Sept. in hope to kick off negotiations with the IMF and unlock billions of U.S. dollars in aid to save the country's economy. Enditem
