KUWAIT CITY -- Kuwait launched on Saturday a tree-planting campaign in the Capital Governorate in an endeavor to address climate challenges.

The campaign was organized by the Kuwait Public Authority Of Agriculture Affairs And Fish Resources (PAAF). Dozens of volunteers participated in planting trees in median strip of Jamal Abdul Nasser Street. (Kuwait-Tree-Planting)

SAN FRANCISCO -- A man was killed and a woman injured in a shooting in a Maxwell Park home in Oakland, U.S. state of California, late Friday night, local police said on Saturday.

Police responding to reports of a shooting found a man and a woman who had been shot. The man was treated on the scene but pronounced dead. The woman was taken to the hospital. Her condition was not disclosed, according to a report by the San Francisco Chronicle on Saturday. (US-Oakland-Shooting)

RAMALLAH -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday said that Israel's rejection of the two-state solution will oblige the Palestinians to go for other political choices.

TEGUCIGALPA -- A massive fire destroyed at least 40 homes and businesses on Saturday on the island of Guanaja in the Honduran Caribbean.

The local fire department said that although no fatalities have been confirmed, several people were burned and others were electrocuted. (Honduras-Fire)

ALGIERS -- Algeria on Saturday decided to recall its ambassador to France for consultations over controversial statements of French President Emmanuel Macron earlier in the day.
