BRATISLAVA, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- The streak of three victories pushed HK Poprad to the top of the Slovak ice hockey Tipos Extraliga standings on Sunday.
Three goals in the first five minutes hinted at what the outcome of the clash between Poprad and Nove Zamky was going to be. The home side's experienced forward Patrik Svitana scored twice and assisted on another to lead his team to a dominant 8-3 win.
HC Slovan Bratislava struggled to find the recipe for HK Spisska Nova Ves and the fans in the capital city had to wait until the end of the second period to witness the first goal by the Candian forward Brant Harris. Slovan eventually won at 2-1.
After a bitter loss to Slovan in the previous round, the players of HK Nitra vented their anger on HK Dukla Ingema Michalovce and triumphed at 8-2.
Elsewhere, HC Kosice seems to have finally gotten the hang of it after three straight defeats, outscoring HC '05 Banska Bystrica 5-3.
HC Grotto Presov witnessed a strong third period with two goals, which made all the difference in the fixture against HK Dukla Trencin, winning at 4-2.
After a goalless first period, the duel between MHK 32 Liptovsky Mikulas and HKM Zvolen was decided in the second as the home team managed to build a 3-1 lead and the final score was 3-2. Enditem
