BOGOTA, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Striker Miguel Borja will miss Colombia's triple header of South American 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers because of a left ankle injury, the country's football federation said on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old partially tore a ligament in the joint while playing for Gremio in their 2-1 home defeat to Sport Recife in Brazil's Serie A on Sunday.

He is expected to be unavailable for about four weeks, according to a Colombian Football Federation statement.

The entity did not immediately name a replacement for the forward, who scored twice in Colombia's 3-1 home victory over Chile on September 9.

The Cafeteros will face Uruguay in Montevideo on October 7 before hosting Brazil and Ecuador in Barranquilla on October 10 and 14 respectively.

Reinaldo Rueda's men are currently fifth in the 10-team South American group with 13 points from nine qualifiers. Enditem
