RIYADH, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Saudi-led coalition involved in a war in Yemen announced on Wednesday an operation that contributed to protecting navigation in Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The coalition revealed targeting a site to gather and launch bomb-laden vessels in Hodeidah city in Yemen, Al Ekhbariya local TV reported.

The coalition also destroyed three bomb-laden drones in the Red Sea launched to carry hostile attacks.

In recent years, such vessels launched by Houthi militia have targeted commercial ships.

The militia also targets various Saudi cities, especially border areas with missiles and drones.

Most of the attacks had been foiled before reaching their targets.

Saudi Arabia is leading the coalition that completed its sixth year of war in Yemen against the Houthis in March 2021 to support Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. Enditem
