DAMASCUS -- The visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian arrived in Syria's capital Damascus on Saturday, speaking about "comprehensive developments" in the relations between his country and Syria, according to the state news agency SANA.

Speaking jointly with Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad to reporters upon arrival, Abdullahian said that over the past few weeks, Syria and Iran have reached "important agreements" for achieving comprehensive development in the relations in all fields. (Syria-Iran-Visit)

BEIRUT -- Lebanon's electricity grid has shut down all over the country as the two main power stations of al-Zahrani and Deir Ammar ran out of fuel, Elnashra local news website reported on Saturday.

The thermoelectric plant stopped at Zahrani power station on Saturday while the Deir Ammar plant stopped on Friday due to a fuel shortage.

DOHA -- The Afghan Taliban announced on Saturday that a high-level delegation of its government met with a U.S. delegation in the Qatari capital Doha, marking the first such gathering since the United States withdrew from Afghanistan in late August and the first foreign visit by the Taliban government officials.

The two sides discussed opening a new chapter of bilateral relations, and the Taliban officials called on the U.S. side to lift the ban on the frozen assets in the Afghan Central Bank, said Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting foreign minister of the newly-formed administration. GAZA -- The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Saturday said that it backs the efforts of Egypt and Qatar to end the Israeli blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip since 2007.
