YANGON -- One million doses of COVID-19 vaccines donated by China arrived in Yangon Wednesday and another 1 million doses are expected to be delivered Thursday, according to the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar.

Myanmar has been administering COVID-19 vaccine shots to middle and high school students aged over 12 years since Tuesday in an effort to cut the spread of COVID-19 infections. (Myanmar-China-COVID-19-Vaccine)

HONG KONG -- The Department of Justice (DoJ) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government said Wednesday that the enactment of the national security law in Hong Kong is in line with the international practice of safeguarding national security and sovereignty of each country.

In response to a statement on the national security law by United Nations (UN) special rapporteurs, the DoJ said Hong Kong's legal system and rule of law remain robust with law and order restored, enabling Hong Kong residents to enjoy their rights and freedoms in a safe and peaceful environment. HANOI -- Vietnam reported 3,461 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including 3,458 locally transmitted and three imported, according to the country's Ministry of Health.

Most of the community cases were detected in southern localities, including 1,162 in Ho Chi Minh City, 501 in Dong Nai province and 486 in Binh Duong province.

The new infections brought the country's total tally to 849,691, with 20,869 deaths, the ministry said. (Vietnam-COVID-19)

SINGAPORE -- Singapore reported 3,190 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total tally in the country to 135,395, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.

Of the new cases, 2,721 were recorded in the community, 498 were in migrant worker dormitories, and six were imported.

A total of 1,507 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with 300 in a serious condition requiring oxygen supplementation, and 46 in critical condition in the intensive care units, said the MOH.
