TUNIS, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Tunisian health ministry announced on Wednesday new measures for arrivals from abroad to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

From Oct. 16, arrivals must present a negative PCR test result within 72 hours before take-off, the ministry said in a statement.

Children under 12 and people who have completed the vaccination 14 days before boarding do not have to present a PCR test result.

Arrivals who have not been vaccinated or received a single dose of COVID-19 vaccine must take a compulsory quarantine for seven days in one of the designated centers, it said.

The ministry reported 226 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total tally in the North African country to 710,322, while the total number of recoveries reached 683,380. Enditem
