1st LD: 11 wounded as explosion rocks provincial capital in E. Afghanistan

ASADABAD, Afghanistan, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 people were wounded after an explosion ripped through a busy road in Asadabad, capital of eastern Afghanistan's Kunar province on Thursday, a witness said.

"We heard a huge blast in Asadabad in the morning, causing panic among the residents. The whole place has now been sealed off," an eyewitness told Xinhua.

The Taliban security forces arrived at the site shortly after the blast, keeping people from gathering at the scene, the eyewitness said.

Besides, a provincial health official told Xinhua that 11 wounded were admitted to a hospital in the city after the incident.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Militants affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) outfit are active in the region. Enditem
