RIYADH, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud set up strategic offices on Sunday to develop three regions in the kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The offices in Al Baha in the west, Al Jouf in the north and Jazan in the southwestern of the kingdom would be the first step for the formation of relevant authorities in these regions.

The offices were formed to build on the advantages of the targeted regions to develop a pro-investment environment for attracting private sector engagement in different fields.

The offices are part of many initiatives that have been launched recently to develop major cities of the kingdom to improve quality of life and promote investments.

Al Baha is considered one of Saudi most prominent tourist attraction. The region features a vast forest and hosts many ancient villages and forts.

Al Jouf has one of the oldest settlements in the Arabian Peninsula dating back to the Paleolithic period.

Jazan shows great promise in many economic sectors, including logistics and agriculture.

The crown prince launched Aseer development strategy in Sept. with 50 billion Saudi Riyals (about 13 billion U.S. dollars) investments to achieve comprehensive, unprecedented and sustainable growth for the Aseer region.

A similar development strategy was announced early this year for the capital Riyadh, while other plans would be announced for Mecca and the Eastern Province. Enditem
