LONDON, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.19 percent, or 13.70 points, to close at 7,217.53 points.
Fresnillo, a Mexican-based precious metals mining company, soared 2.85 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Hikma Pharmaceuticals and Pearson increased by 2.77 percent and 2.54 percent, respectively.
International Consolidated Airlines Group, an Anglo-Spanish multinational airline holding company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 5.78 percent.
