German shares close higher Tuesday

FRANKFURT, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- German stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 41.36 points, or 0.27 percent, to close at 15,515.83 points.

Multinational building materials company HeidelbergCement won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 3.01 percent. Reinsurance company Munich Re and marketplace organizer for the trading of shares and securities Deutsche Boerse group rose by 2.57 percent and 1.63 percent respectively.

Publicly traded meal-kit company HelloFresh lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 1.96 percent. Automotive supplier Continental and automotive manufacturer Volkswagen went down by 1.26 percent and 1.22 percent respectively.

Multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer was the most-traded share with a turnover of 186.10 million euros (216.90 million U.S. dollars).

China's Haier, a leading global household appliances manufacturer listed in Frankfurt in 2018, lost 0.14 percent to close at 1.585 euros per share on Tuesday. Enditem
