German shares close flat Wednesday

FRANKFURT, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- German stocks closed almost unchanged on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 7.09 points, or 0.05 percent, to close at 15,522.92 points.

Multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 1.89 percent. Energy group RWE and pharmaceutical company Merck rose by 1.83 percent and 1.54 percent respectively.

Deutsche Boerse group lost the most among the blue chips, down by 2.50 percent. Aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero and automotive manufacturer Volkswagen went down by 2.32 percent and 1.67 percent respectively.

Volkswagen was the most-traded share, with a turnover of 383.86 million euros (446.16 million U.S. dollars).

China's Haier, a leading global household appliances manufacturer listed in Frankfurt in 2018, lost 0.23 percent to close at 1.581 euros per share. Enditem
