JAKARTA, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Six people have been found dead in a landslide at a gold mining site in Kotawaringin Timur district, Central Kalimantan province, head of the local civil protection agency Rihel Magat said.

Teams from different institutions will soon evacuate the dead, Magat was quoted by Antara news agency as saying on Friday.

The accident occurred at about 12:00 p.m. local time on Thursday, when 11 people were mining at the scene, he said, adding that the landslide was likely triggered by heavy rains.

According to him, of the 11 miners, five people have survived the accident.

"The dead bodies are now still at the scene. Rescuers including policemen are now on the way to the location. Families of the victims have also been informed about the mishap," he said. Enditem
