RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Kaio Nunes scored two first-half goals and was sent off as relegation-bound Chapecoense held Flamengo to a 2-2 draw in Brazil's Serie A championship on Monday.

Matheuzinho gave Flamengo an early lead before Nunes struck twice in four minutes for the hosts at their Arena Conda in Chapeco.

Michael Oliveira equalized following a counterattack just before halftime but Chapecoense held on to secure an unexpected draw and dent Flamengo's chances of a third straight Serie A title.

Nunes went from hero to villain just before the hour mark when he was shown a second yellow card for a bad foul on Everton Ribeiro.

The visitors also finished the match with 10 men following Ribeiro's 89th-minute dismissal for violent conduct.

Flamengo are 11 points behind leaders Atletico Mineiro but have nine games remaining compared to the Belo Horizonte outfit's eight.

Chapecoense, who are already certain to be relegated to Serie B, are last in the 20-team standings with just 15 points from 31 games. Enditem
