ABUJA, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Five people were killed and nine others injured following a head-on collision of two vehicles on a highway in Nigeria's northeastern state of Bauchi, local authorities said on Thursday.
One person escaped unhurt Wednesday in the accident involving two commercial buses in the Nabordo community, along the Bauchi highway, said Yusuf Abdullahi, commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the Bauchi state, at a press briefing in the capital city of Bauchi.
He said the injured people were taken to a government hospital for treatment, while the remains of the deceased were deposited in the morgue for identification by their relatives.
Deadly road accidents are frequently reported in Nigeria, often caused by overloading, bad road conditions, and reckless driving. Enditem
