NAIROBI -- China on Monday donated relief food consisting of 945 tons of rice to drought-hit Kenyans.

Zhang Yijun, Minister Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Kenya, said in Nairobi that the humanitarian assistance is the seventh of its kind since 2017 when China promised to donate a total of 11,835 tons of rice worth 2.25 billion shillings (about 20 million U.S. dollars). (Kenya-China-Food donation)

SOFIA -- At least six people have died in a fire at a nursing home in the village of Royak in eastern Bulgaria on Monday afternoon, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also said some of the elderly people have been gassed.

The fire broke out just before 6 p.m. local time (1600 GMT), and five fire and rescue teams were sent immediately to the scene, according to the ministry. (Bulgaria-Fire-Nursing Home)

LAGOS -- An internal security official said on Monday unspecified number of travelers were kidnapped after gunmen attacked their vehicles along a highway in the Kaduna state in northwestern Nigeria on Sunday.

Samuel Aruwan, the commissioner for internal security and home affairs in Kaduna, said in a statement one civilian was also killed during the attack by gunmen who attacked vehicles along the highway linking the Kaduna state and the country's capital city Abuja, and kidnapped unspecified number of travelers. CHICAGO -- A 39-year-old man in Milwaukee, a city in U.S. state of Wisconsin, faces five counts of first-degree intentional murder charges after driving into a holiday parade held in Waukesha of Wisconsin on Sunday evening, which killed five people and injured over 40 others.

The five killed aged from 52 to 81, and there are 18 children, aged from 3 to 16, among those injured, said Waukesha Police Chief Dan Thompson at a press conference held Monday afternoon. (U.S.-Wisconsin-Murder)

OUAGADOUGOU -- An armed attack targeted on the night of Sunday to Monday, the military detachment of Foube, province of Sanmatenga in Burkina Faso, killing at least 10 civilians and nine gendarmes, the communications minister and government spokesperson, Ousseni Tamboura, announced Monday.
