Tunisian president meets Congolese FM on bilateral ties, cooperation

TUNIS, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Tunisian President Kais Saied received on Tuesday visiting Foreign Minister of the Republic of the Congo Jean-Claude Gakosso to discuss bilateral relations, the Tunisian presidency said in a statement.

During the meeting, Saied stressed Tunisia's aspiration to develop cooperation with African countries, including the Republic of the Congo.

He expressed Tunisia's willingness to contribute to conceiving new solutions that would achieve the hopes and aspirations of the African people for stability and development.

For his part, the Congolese minister conveyed to Saied the greetings from the President of Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso, as well as his desire to strengthen consultations between the two countries on regional and international issues of common interest.

The top Congolese diplomat also expressed his country's willingness to consolidate and diversify cooperation relations with Tunisia.

According to the Tunisian presidency, the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the development in Libya and the role of the African countries in contributing to the political settlement within the framework of a peaceful solution that guarantees unity, security and stability of Libya.
