ROME, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Atalanta broke a jinx in Serie A as it edged past Juventus 1-0 on Saturday, claiming its first away victory on the Old Lays's turf since 1989.

Juve was just back from a Champions League fiasco against Chelsea in the midweek and in a dire need of a domestic victory to keep its Scudetto hope alive.

The Bianconeri had more ball possession but saw Duvan Zapata scored the sole goal in the 28th minute when Alvaro Morata's error sparked a counter, Berat Djimsiti's pass sliced Juve's defense apart, Zapata collected the ball to drill home.

Juve had the chance to equalize in the stoppages, but Paulo Dybala's free kick rattled the woodwork.

With the fifth defeat, Juve ranks eighth with 21 points, while Atalanta stands firmly on fourth with 28.

Elsewhere, Inter Milan temporarily cut the gap to the joint leaders Napoli and AC Milan to one point as it won Venezia 2-0 away, thanks to a pair of strikes from Hakan Calhanoglu and Lautaro Martinez.

Also on Saturday, Sampdoria saw off Hellas Verona 3-1, Empoli beat Fiorentina 2-1. Enditem
