JERUSALEM -- A second case of the Omicron coronavirus variant was discovered in Israel, the state-owned Kan TV news reported Sunday.

The patient is a vaccinated woman who returned from South Africa, and was found positive in a genetic sequencing testing conducted by the Israeli Ministry of Health, the Kan TV said. (Israel-COVID19-Omicron)

TRIPOLI -- The National Center for Disease Control of Libya on Sunday announced new travel restrictions against the new Omicron COVID-19 variant.

Travellers coming from countries where Omicron has been detected are requested to produce a negative PCR test within 48 hours, and also to remain in quarantine for 10 days, the center said. (Libya-COVID19-Omicron)

RABAT -- Morocco will suspend all regular international passenger flights for two weeks over concern about the new COVID-19 variant Omicron.

AMMAN -- Jordan and Egypt on Sunday announced an agreement to increase electricity capacity between the two countries' power grids from 500 megawatts to 1,000 megawatts.

The announcement was made after talks in Amman between Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh and Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, the Jordanian Ministry of Energy said in a statement. (Jordan-Egypt-Electricity Grids) Enditem
