TEHRAN -- Ali Bagheri Kani, Iran's chief nuclear negotiator, said Iran has a "serious" demand for the lifting of U.S. sanctions during the new round of Vienna talks, official IRNA news agency reported Monday.

"We have entered the negotiations with a serious will and strong preparation for lifting illegal and oppressive sanctions," Bagheri Kani told IRNA in Vienna just hours ahead of the beginning of the talks on the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). ISTANBUL, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- The death toll in a powerful southwest wind storm in Turkey's largest city Istanbul on Monday increased to four, the Istanbul Governor's Office said in a statement.

At least 19 citizens were wounded, with three in critical condition, because of the adverse weather conditions, while one of the dead was a foreign national, according to the statement. (Turkey-Istanbul-Storm)

BEIRUT -- Protests broke out on Monday across Lebanon against the deteriorating living conditions and the collapse of the local currency, the National News Agency reported.

Protesters blocked roads in the capital Beirut, Tripoli, Sidon, Zahle and in Mount Lebanon with burning tires and waste containers, preventing citizens from reaching their workplaces and prompting some schools to shut their doors. (Lebanon-Protests-Currency Collapse)

KHARTOUM, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan on Monday vowed not to relinquish the lands of Fashaga area on the border with Ethiopia, the council said in a statement.

Al-Burhan visited the Baraka Noreen area at Fashaga town on the border with Ethiopia following an Ethiopian incursion into the area that resulted in the killing of six members of the Sudanese army and injuring of 31 others. (Sudan-Ethiopia-Fashaga) Enditem
