ISLAMABAD, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- A car of a marriage party collided with a truck in Muzaffargarh district of eastern Punjab province of Pakistan on Tuesday, leaving four people dead and three others injured, a rescue official said.

Spokesperson of the emergency rescue service Rescue 1122 in the district Mansoor Khan told Xinhua that a car carrying seven guests of a wedding party collided head-on with the truck coming from the opposite direction in Muzaffargarh.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted bodies and the injured to a nearby hospital.

The ill-fated wedding party was on its way from the Rangpur area to the Shah Jamal town of the district when it encountered the accident, said the official, adding that all the deceased and injured were close relatives.

The rescue official feared that the death toll might further rise because the injured received head injuries with multiple fractures and were under special care.

Local police registered a case about the accident, saying that overspeeding and careless driving of the car driver were the basic cause of the accident. Enditem
