BAGHDAD -- Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi met with U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Matthew Tueller on Saturday to discuss ending the role of the U.S.-led coalition forces in the country.

Al-Kadhimi and Tueller discussed "the progress made in ending the combat role of the U.S.-led coalition forces in Iraq and shifting to advise and support role," the media office of al-Kadhimi said. (Iraq-US-Withdrawal)

RAMALLAH -- Palestine on Saturday warned against Israeli government's approval of settlement plans, saying that it includes the construction of 1,058 settlement units in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

WASHINGTON -- Police shot and killed a man wielding a knife inside a residence hall on the campus of a university in the U.S. state of Florida on Friday night, authorities said Saturday.

The Melbourne Police Department (MPD) said in a press release posted on its Facebook account that one of its officers and a Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) security officer confronted a man armed with an edged weapon inside a campus building just before 11:00 p.m. local time on Friday, discharging their firearms and killed the suspect on scene as he lunged at the officers. NAIROBI -- At least 18 commuters died on Saturday after a bus ferrying choir members plunged into a river in Kitui County, eastern Kenya, the police said.

Mwingi East Sub-County Police Commander Joseph Yakan said 10 passengers have been rescued after a bus which had at least 30 people on board when the accident occurred at 11 a.m. plunged into the river. (Kenya-Accident) Enditem
